Little Elm sits on the northern and eastern shores of Lewisville Lake in Denton County, and the lake shapes the town: central Little Elm is surrounded by water on three sides, and the town counts about 66 miles of shoreline. The 2020 Census recorded 46,453 residents, most of them living in single-family homes in master-planned subdivisions, with newer apartments and townhomes rising around The Lakefront, the original downtown. A truck heading out of state can pick up U.S. 380 across the north end of town, or take the Dallas North Tollway or FM 423 south toward SH 121, depending on where you are going. Eldorado Parkway (FM 720) is the other main east–west road. Depending on the address, a Little Elm home may be zoned to Little Elm ISD, Frisco ISD, Denton ISD or Aubrey ISD, which is worth confirming when you request school records for a new state.
