Bedford is a Tarrant County city of 49,928 people (2020 Census) in the Mid-Cities between Dallas and Fort Worth, approximately 18 miles west of Farmers Branch. Its main corridor is SH 183, the Airport Freeway, named for its early role as the main route to DFW International Airport, and SH 121 also runs through the city. Bedford's housing is split almost evenly: in 2020, 53.5% of occupied homes were owner-occupied and 46.5% were rented. Much of the single-family stock dates from the 1970s and 1980s, including brick ranch homes in Bedford Heights and established streets in Forest Ridge, Meadow Park and Shady Brook, while the Central Drive and Bell Manor area is mostly apartment communities. Homes that have been lived in for decades often have full attics and garages, so it is worth walking through those spaces when you estimate the size of the move. Bedford is part of Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD, and its high school students attend L.D. Bell in Hurst or Trinity in Euless. Green Van Lines has moved DFW households to other states since 2007, starting as the first eco-friendly moving company in the US.
