Moving out of Denton, Texas

Denton is the Denton County seat, a city of 139,869 people at the 2020 Census, and it moves to an academic calendar. The University of North Texas and Texas Woman's University together enroll more than 45,000 students, which helps explain the city's median age of 30.2, and many moves cluster around semester start and end dates. Away from campus, life centers on Denton Square, built around the Courthouse-on-the-Square, and the Fry Street area near UNT. On the highway side, Denton is where I-35E and I-35W rejoin to form I-35 near milepost 468. Loop 288 wraps the north, east and southeast sides of the city, and US 380 runs east toward McKinney and west toward Decatur. That makes Denton a natural starting point for moves north toward Oklahoma.
